Recommended Tackle – Frog Fishing

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Frog fishing demands heavy tackle. Most pros combine a 7 1/2 foot flipping stick and a baitcasting reel spooled with 20- to 30- pound test line, either abrasion – resistance mono or super line. The long stout rod serves three important purposes: making long cast, setting the hook for a distance in horsing the fish out of lilly pads or other dense weeds. Frog fishing generally takes place in expanses of shallow vegetation where the strike zone can be enormous, so making long casts and working the bait all the way back to the boat is crucial.
