Lunker life part seven

Once the fall migration is complete, winter is a time of rest. While Many of the worlds living things require moor food to maintain body heat during the cold, the basses cold blooded metabolism reduces its demand for food and oxygen to near nil by the time the water reaches the low forties. Even with their senses dulled, those few destined to reach lunker proportions maintain an edge, however slight, in energy and spirit that gradually separates them from the pack.
